Today's Japanese Grand Prix saw Kimi Raikkonen take the chequered flag in the McLaren-Mercedes overtaking Giancarlo Fisichella on the very last lap after starting seventeenth on the grid due to an engine penalty. Fisichella's Renault teammate Fernando Alonso finished third. Jenson Button in the B.A.R-Honda finished in fifth, while Jacques Villeneuve in the Sauber-Petronas finished in eleventh (following a review by the judges involving an incident with Juan Pablo Montoya).
This race was really worth staying up for here in Canada since it was perhaps the best race of the season (so far). There certainly was a lot of good, close battles and the Raikkonen overtaking Fisichella on the very last lap to win the race was definately the icing on the cake. There are already rumors that Raikkonen has signed a deal with Ferrari worth US$50 million beginning in 2007. The next, and final, race of the season will take place next Sunday with the Chinese Grand Prix at Shanghai.
