2007 Canadian Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton won today's Canadian Grand Prix on Ile Notre Dame at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. Hamilton became the first black F1 driver and the fourth youngest driver ever to win a race and did it in the McLaren-Mercedes. Nick Heidfeld finished second in the BMW-Sauber with Alex Wurz finishing in third place in the Williams. The race was entertaining to say the least which featured many crashes including one that resulted in a broken leg for Heidfeld's teammate Robert Kubica, two blag flags (meaning that the drivers were disqualified), and other quirky incidents. With the win, Hamilton takes a clear lead in the driver's championship due to his teammate Fernando Alonso's seventh place finish with 48 points vs. 40 points for Alonso.

On a sidenote, Public Works and Government Services Minister Michael Fortier presented the winner's trophy to Hamilton, Quebec Tourism minister Raymond Bachand presented the race constructor's trophy to Hamilton's team, and Montreal mayor Gerald Tremblay presented the second place trophy.
