Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren won today's Canadian Grand Prix at Ile-Notre Dame in Montreal at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve with Hamilton's teammate Jenson Button finishing second with Fernando Alonso rounding out the podium in the Ferrari.
Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber in the Red Bull finished fourth and fifth respectively, Nico Rosberg finished sixth in the Mercedes, Robert Kubica in the Renault finished seventh, Sebastien Buemi in the Toro Rosso finished eighth, while Vitantonio Liuzzi and Adrian Sutil in the Force India finished ninth and tenth respectively. Rosberg's teammate Michael Schumacher finished eleventh.
The 70-lap race was pretty eventful with a few lead changes and Hamilton and Alonso almost having a coming together in the pit lane early on in the race. The Canadian Grand Prix has always been my favourite race (with Monaco a very close second) and was nice to see again after a one year absence from the calendar in 2009. Then again, I'm pretty biased given the title of my blog, LOL. The winner's trophy was presented by federal Natural Resources Minister Christian Paradis, the constructor's trophy was presented by Quebec Finance Minister Raymond Bachand, and the second place trophy was presented by Montreal mayor Gerald Tremblay.
The results mean that Hamilton now sits atop the lead of the driver's championship at 109 points, Button at 106, Webber at 103, Alonso at 94, Vettel at 90, Rosberg at 74, Kubica at 73, and Alonso's teammate Felipe Massa at 67. McLaren also leads the constructor's championship at 215 points, Red Bull at 193, Ferrari at 161, and Mercedes at 108.
The next race is in two weeks with the European Grand Prix at Valencia in Spain.
