2006 Malaysian Grand Prix

Giancarlo Fisichella in the Renault won yesterday's Malaysian Grand Prix, while teammate Fernando Alonso finished second, and Jenson Button in the Honda finished third. Jacques Villeneuve in the BMW finished seventh. I was probably one of a handful of people in Canada who stayed up until 4am to wach the entire race, which was pretty entertaining but not as entertaining as the Bahrain Grand Prix last Sunday.

I'm hoping Button wins his first career race this season, but it likely won't happen because his car doesn't seem to have the pace of the frontrunners and his pit stops aren't very crisp and smooth which can cost a driver valuable time and position. Who knows, things can change and the car might be tweaked to give it some pace but I'm not holding my breath.

Michael Schumacher in the Ferrari finished sixth after starting from fourteenth place on the grid due to an engine change penalty. Those of you who are familiar with my F1 allegiances know that I'm not a fan of Schumacher, and as long as he doesn't win, I'm happy. I much rather prefer he doesn't score any points at all, but hey, you can have everything.
