Fernando Alonso won the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday in the Renault at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (named after the former Canadian F1 driver and father of Jacques) on Ile Notre-Dame in Montreal. Michael Schumacher in the Ferrari finished second, and Kimi Raikkonen in the McLaren-Mercedes finished third. Jenson Button finished ninth in the Honda, while Jacques Villeneuve crashed out on lap 60 out of the 70 lap race. It was unfortunate that Villeneuve failed to finish the race because he ran a good race up until his retirement. As for Jenson Button, this year has turned out to be a big write-off, just like last year. It'll definately be a while before he wins his first career F1 race.
On a sidenote: Federal Transport Minister Lawrence Cannon handed out the winner's trophy to Alonso, Quebec Finance Minister Michel Audet presented the constructor's trophy to Renault, and Montreal mayor Gerald Tremblay handed out the second place trophy to Schumacher.
