Lewis Hamilton won today's Australian Grand Prix which kicked off the 2008 F1 season, the 59th F1 season in the McLaren-Mercedes. Nick Heidfeld in the BMW-Sauber finished second, while Nico Rosberg in the Williams finished third. Finishing fourth was Fernando Alonso in the Renault, while defending champion Kimi Raikkonen finished eighth in the Ferrari. Jenson Button scored a DNF in the Honda.
The race was marred by an early mishap off the start involving quite a few cars and by the end of the race, only seven out of the original 22 cars finished the race. Hamilton led most of the 58-lap race at Albert Park in Melbourne and is certainly the man to beat this season. I will go out on a limb this seson and say that Nick Heidfeld will win his first career F1 race this season. That is simply based on gut feeling.
The next race is next Sunday with the Malaysian Grand Prix in Kuala Lampur.
